2021 Coal Dust 5K Run/Walk

Saturday, Sep 11, 2021 marks the return of the Coal Dust Run/Walk 5K in Williamson, West Virginia. This fun 5k is a take on the popular color run races where participants are dusted with colorful powder. To honor our local heritage of coal mining, participants in this race are dusted with "coal dust"! For those who prefer to stay out of the dust, "dust-free" areas will be available.

This race is hosted by the Tug Valley Road Runners Club in partnership with the Tug Valley Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds from this event benefit the historic Coal House.

Each year, unique participant t-shirts and finisher medals are designed for the theme of the race. The 2021 design is a nod to one of the larger coal companies from the past in our area, Island Creek Coal. Those who register will receive an event t-shirt and as they cross the finish line, participants will receive their finisher medal. Also, the Tug Valley Chamber of Commerce will be awarding a State of West Virginia figure made from coal to the first participant to cross the finish line. The figure measures approximately 2ft.tall.

This race is runner, walker, and animal friendly! The CDR will begin at 6:00pm at the start/finish line in downtown Williamson on 2nd Avenue in front of the Coal House. DJ Ralphie Hall will be at the race to keep the lively atmosphere going before, during, and after the race.

You can register online or in person at the Williamson Health and Wellness Center Outreach Office located at 182 E. 2nd Avenue, Williamson. Cost of registration is $20.00 per person. For more information, contact 304-235-3400
