Shopping second-hand is a great way to save some money while getting new clothes, not to mention the many environmental benefits to choosing a local second-hand shop over big business and fast fashion. Now, you can stop by Bless Your Heart, the recently opened consignment boutique in Delbarton, West Virginia, to find your next “new-to-you” fashion statement!
“Our goal is to sell quality second-hand clothing at reasonable prices,” says owner Shannon Chambers. “I thought of the idea in January, and I prayed about it for three weeks before discussing it with my family.”
Shannon’s family was completely supportive of her decision to open her second business, after the success of her Independent Insurance Agency, Shannon Chambers Insurance, at the start of 2020.
When considering storefront locations, Shannon decided it would actually be beneficial to operate her two businesses side by side. “I decided it would be a great idea to have both businesses in the same storefront with the agency on one side, and the consignment store on the other.”
Family Support
Shannon is proud to have both businesses operated in Delbarton, and she specifically chose the name of her store to reflect her pride in her Southern Appalachian heritage. “I specifically chose the name ‘Bless Your Heart’ because it is a very common southern saying, and many people in my family have said it all my life, and it felt like the perfect fit.”
Her businesses are a bit of a family operation, with both her mother, Pamela, and her father, Junior, helping her out on a regular basis. “My mother and father have worked beside me throughout the process in opening the store, and both have supported me tremendously by assisting me in the day to day operations at Bless Your Heart.”
Shannon’s favorite thing about owning her own business is being her own boss. “Being the boss of your own business is very rewarding,” She says. “I am able to openly and freely express my ideals in an environment that I created.”
