It's Time for a Block Party!

For several years, the Healthy in the Hills Network has been hosting an end-of-summer block party to bring the community together. “The Healthy in the Hills Network began hosting the block party several years ago while Nate Siggers was the Community Engagement Director,” says Amy Hannah, with Williamson Health and Wellness Center. “Nate worked extremely hard at putting together an event that was enjoyable for folks of all ages, and the team is trying to carry on that tradition!”

Life’s a Carnival

Given that the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the Block Party from happening in 2020, organizers are especially excited for this year’s block party. They’ve selected a carnival theme for this year. Of the theme, Amy says. “It will be complete with games, inflatables, prizes, food, popcorn, frozen yogurt, face painting, and more!” They’ll also have an inflatable mechanical bull, something they’ve wanted to do for years.

Amy believes events like this can provide families in the region a chance to have some fun in their own hometown. “Events like this bring an opportunity for families to enjoy activities within our own community,” she says. “The most exciting part of the entire event for me is just to see people having a genuinely good time in our little town. To see a big smile and hear loads of laughter makes all of the planning worthwhile.”

Want to have some fun at the Block Party? All are welcome to join the fun on August 14th from 7pm-9pm on 1st Avenue in downtown Williamson. Check out the Facebook page for more details.
