Tonya Cool loves creating beautiful spaces for people to celebrate together in, and Christmas is a wonderful time for that! She has plenty of tips for putting together a gorgeous, comfortable, and festive space to celebrate the holiday season in.
Getting Into the Christmas Spirit
Tonya’s favorite thing to decorate is, of course, the tree! “My favorite thing to decorate is our first Christmas tree that my husband and I bought together in 2012,” she says. Her tree is 12 feet tall and “takes forever to finish”, but it’s worth it in the end. “Nothing puts me in the Christmas spirit like sitting in my living room and enjoying looking at it and all of the ornaments we have collected over the years.”
Tonya also loves adding a little coziness. “I also love pillows and cozy throws and blankets.”
Celebrating With Sentimentality
Tonya’s favorite kind of decoration is one with personal meaning. “My most favorite things for Christmas are things that have a special meaning to me,” she says. One of her favorites? A bible that her father gave her for Christmas. “This was the bible he carried to work for years and years, and it’s one of the best Christmas gifts I have ever received.”
You don’t need a list of expensive, must-have items to create a beautiful Christmas space-- just a few basics and personal favorites.
Tonya says, “I think when you’re decorating for Christmas, you should use all of those special things that touch your heart and bring a smile to your face, and then you can’t go wrong. Throw in some pretty ribbon and decor, and you will have created a cozy and inviting living space that you and your family can enjoy.”
