The Academy for Mine Training and Energy Technologies to honor Lineman/CDL class
Williamson, WV (October 2022) —
Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College will host a graduation celebration for its second Lineman/CDL class. The Academy for Mine Training and Energy Technologies will honor the nine students at 11 AM on Saturday, October 29th at the Applied Technology Center on the Williamson Campus. During the celebration, the graduates will showcase what they have learned during the 16-week course.
“We are so proud of these students and what they have accomplished during their time at Southern,” said Charles Isaacs, Lineman Instructor at Southern.
After the ceremony, students will show off their skills in a hurt man rescue drill, an egg climb, and other line construction events.
“We couldn’t ask for better people to join this ever-changing field of work,” said Jay Lester, Workforce Director at Southern. “We are blessed to be a part of this program.”
In October, this cohort of students will leave Southern with a Class–A Commercial Driver’s License, an Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) training card, and a lineman certification.
“I am thoroughly impressed with the students and faculty members of this hands-on program,” added Dr. David Lemmon, Dean of Professional and Technical Studies. “We have had overwhelming support from the College and community regarding the Lineman and CDL programs. I am proud of these students and wish them the best in their future careers.”
