Walk With Ease

Helping Folks Get In Shape

For many, the start of a new year is a perfect time to get healthy. That’s why, from January 13th to February 21st, the Williamson Health and Wellness Center will be hosting the Walk With Ease program. Walk With Ease is a 6-week walking program led by trained facilitators and designed to encourage folks to be healthy. The course will be open to all ages and completely free.

Walk With Ease will be hosted in Gilbert, WV, Delbarton, WV, South Williamson, KY, and Hardy, KY. Teri Mills, a coordinator in Hardy, enjoys helping other people get in shape. As coordinator, Teri changes things up over the course of the 6 weeks. “I try to change things and add new ideas. We have people come in and do cooking demos occasionally too.” She includes a lesson about arthritis and how exercise can help its symptoms and leads the group through stretching, walking, and cool-down stretches. “I also encourage them to walk at home and make healthy food choices,” she says.

Teri has been a coordinator for Walk With Ease for about a year. Her favorite part of her role as coordinator is “seeing people progress” through the program. Last year, Teri and the group she worked with did the 1.6-mile walk together at The Southern Harvest Half, 5K, and 1.6-Mile Walk.

There is still time left to get ready for Walk With Ease! To learn more about each location, visit the Williamson Health And Wellness Center Facebook page.
