#YoungEntrepreneursDay2023: Andrew Walsh
Since 2020, the Tug Valley Chamber of Commerce has hosted Young Entrepreneurs Day, an event that puts under-18 business owners in the area at the forefront and offers them new opportunities. Many kids and teens have participated in that time, and thanks to the success they helped to make possible, the Chamber of Commerce is happy to be hosting the 4th Annual Young Entrepreneurs Day on Saturday, August 5 from 10 am-3pm at the Williamson Field House.
Kids aged 8-18 with businesses of all kinds are able to participate in YED, and newcomers and returning businesses alike will participate in this year’s event. One new participant will be Andrew Walsh, a 13 year old attending Guyan Valley Middle School in Lincoln County. He’ll be bringing Andrew’s Creative Corner, a business selling perler bead items, to YED. Perler beads are a type of plastic fusible bead, and Andrew uses his to make decorations, keychains, and earrings.
Andrew was actually inspired by YED to start his own business. “I always wanted to start a business and sell things,” He says. “I decided to start my business when my sister mentioned Young Entrepreneurs Day to me.”
Andrew is looking forward to this opportunity to meet people in the community and share his creations. “I’m very excited to participate and meet everyone,” He says. “I look forward to meeting other people who like my creations.”
