Book Signing with Iris Underwood

Maple Grove Books, located in The Collective Retail and Artisan Shops, will be hosting a book signing and discussion with Iris Underwood on Wednesday. October 11th. 

Iris was born in Matewan, West VIrginia, but now calls Michigan home. Her latest book, Matewan Garden Club, returns to her roots in Mingo County. 

Goodreads.com describes the book by saying, "Matewan Garden Club spans three generations and a multitude of dreams amongst the tight-knit immigrant coal camps and struggling towns along the Tug including Williamson, Blackberry City, Red Jacket, Thacker Holler, and countless hollers in between. Like the river's many tributaries, these communities converge in Depression-era Matewan, West Virginia to build enduring love amid the business of native flora and fauna-seedlings of a post-WWI Europe in chaos, the Bolshevik Revolution-and a brand-new America." 

The book signing is scheduled from 11am-3pm, with a book discussion happening from 12:15pm-1:00pm.

Maple Grove Books in The Collective Retail and Artisan Shops is located on 2nd Avenue in downtown Williamson across from the Mingo County Courthouse. 

In addition to Matewan Garden Club, other works by Iris will be available.
