#LocalEvent: Cooking Fresh Cooking Class

Eating is a big part of life. It’s not only how we nourish ourselves and gain energy, it’s a way to connect with family, friends, and coworkers. It’s a way to celebrate the good times, and soothe ourselves during the bad. It’s easy to get caught up in doing what’s necessary, and start eating a lot of the same things over and over, instead of trying new things and enjoying healthy meals. The Williamson Farmers Market team will be providing a little remedy to those interested this summer, with their Cooking Fresh series!

Plant-Packed Recipes!

Cooking Fresh will be a series of outdoor cooking classes. “We’re gonna do recipes all summer that focus on produce,” says Williamson Farmers Market Marketing and Nutrition Manager Kristin DeBoard. “They probably won’t include meat, but if they do, it will be little amounts, and we will make veggies the star of the show.”

Cooking Fresh will feature lots of healthy swaps for those less healthy ingredients, as well as nutrition tips. Organizers plan to support local growers as much as possible with this series. “We will be using as much local produce as possible,” Kristin says.

Cooking Fresh will kick off Monday, June 7, at 6pm at the Williamson Farmers Market lot on 3rd Avenue in Williamson. This first class will feature a plant-based and nutrient-packed stir fry recipe. To learn more about Cooking Fresh and to register for class, check out the event page on Facebook!
