Winter Cooking with the Williamson Farmers Market

Updated: Dec 3, 2021

Despite the cookouts and ice cream that might suggest otherwise, it’s not that hard to stay healthy in the summertime. Local produce is in abundance, and it’s easy to incorporate plenty of delicious fruits and veggies into your summer dinners. Given that there are less opportunities for fresh fruits and veggies for the colder months, it might seem a little harder to stay healthy during the winter. The Williamson Farmers Market is going to do all they can to keep us eating healthy throughout the winter with their Winter Cooking Club.

The Winter Cooking Club will be teaching folks plenty of great healthy recipes. At their upcoming meeting , they’ll be teaching participants how to cook falafel turkey burgers and a side of roasted sweet potato wedges with a cilantro yogurt sauce. Sounds delicious, right? It’s also super healthy.

Healthy and Delicious

Turkey is one of the healthiest meats there is, and the addition of falafel makes this a protein packed meal. Sweet potatoes are packed with vitamins and fiber, rounding out this delicious and healthy meal.

Want to join in on the cooking fun? The Winter Cooking Club will meet Monday, December 6th at 6pm at the Matewan Town Hall in downtown Matewan, West Virginia. To learn more, check out their Facebook page.
